Inspiron 24-3455, screen on/off button

I have a Dell Inspiron 24-3455. The screen on/off button on the right side of the monitor (page 4) stopped working. It was rarely used. Is there something in the settings that could have gotten turned off?

Edit-- Sorry I didn't realize you had an all in one.

@19macker47  This is an All-In-One, but exactly which model, an Inspiron 24 3464 ?

Are you talking about the Input Source Selection button or the Power button? There is no "screen on/off button". If you press/release the Power button (bottom button on right edge of the Inspiron 24 3464), it puts the entire PC to sleep. If you press/hold that button for 4 sec, it forces the PC to shut off completely (which you really shouldn't do).

So are you trying to put it to sleep or turn it off? If you're trying to put it to sleep, you may have to change that button setting in the Windows Power plan.

Open the Windows Power & Sleep screen. Click Additional Power Settings. On next screen identify the active Power plan and click Change Plan Settings. On next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings.

On that last screen, check the Power button and lid settings and change them, as necessary. Be sure you save the change(s) to the Power plan before exiting. Then reboot Windows normally and see if the Power button does what you want...

That's why it's essential to include the exact PC model (and version of Windows) in your OP.

I doubt there are any settings to control those buttons.  A "control-buttons board" is shown in the Service Manual (page 65) along with instructions to remove/replace it.

Since you said that button is "rarely used', is there any point even trying to do anything about it? I'd leave things alone unless any of the other buttons start acting up...

Thanks for the reply, Ron. It seems the issue started when we did a Windows 10 update. From what I've seen in the forums, this has happened to other folks due to a driver issue. Looks like we need to reinstall the quickset driver but this might be obsolete - I can't find a link to it. Any ideas if / where we could track it down? Thanks for your expertise, much appreciated.

Do you know which update caused this? Seems that Microsoft is an expert at breaking things with each new update.  I don't see any links for Quickset for this AIO.

I wonder if the Power plan settings might affect this..?

Open the Windows Power & Sleep screen. Click Additional Power Settings. On next screen identify the active Power plan and click Change Plan Settings. On next screen, you could set it to turn off the display after as little as 1 min of inactivity. If nothing else make sure it's not set to Never.

If that doesn't help, follow the same path and then click Change Advanced Power Settings. On that last screen, expand the list under Power button and see if changing those settings solves the problem. Be sure to save the change to the Power plan and then reboot for the change to take effect...

I'll ping my Dell tech contact too...

Power options in control panel don't affect it

I know this is dated, but I also had this problem. I found a driver on Dell support dated 2015, installed it and it works!  I even have WIN11 installed and it works with this.

Went to dell support for the 3455 and asked for drivers for Display screen.  This one popped up and I downloaded and installed......
